Dr David Pearce is an Environmental Microbiologist with British Antarctic Survey. For over 20 years he has worked in the fields of environmental microbiology, microbial biodiversity, environmental genomics, extremophiles and life in extreme environments.

meet the science team - Dr David Pearce

My involvement in this project

I will be using molecular techniques both in the field and ithe laboratory to investigate the microbial communities that we find in the lake, the ice and in the sediments.

Have you been to Antarctica before?

I have extensive experience working in Antarctica.  I’ve conducted research on microorganisms living in the extreme environments around British Antarctic Survey’s Signy Research Station.
